Not surprisingly sports injuries covers a great deal of what we do. The average person may just be a weekend athlete but many patients have specific fitness goals and injuries stop them from achieving those goals. Whether its a torn hamstring ruptures biceps or that niggling pain that stops you doing what you want to do, the important thing is to listen to your body. Pain that doesn’t resolve quickly is you bodies way of telling you that something is wrong. That limits performance and enjoyment of your sport and leads to injuries.
Much of what I see on a daily basis is injuries that have been ignored. The sufferer would rather put up with the discomfort rather than miss his weekly game of footie with the lads or the girls night out dancing.
So what can you expect when you arrive. First I take a history and yes I do ask for some detail .Most patients find this re assuring others think it over involved. But its often the key to understanding what has happened in your body. Next is examination. This can be visual or hands on. The next stage is testing.
Once all of this information has been gathered i use my years of experience and training to come up with what we call an hypothesis. This is a calculated reasoning of what is likely to have happening to the structures of your body. Its based on anatomical and physiological knowledge.
