Acupuncture for all.

Acupuncture for all.

Since Ive been practicing acupuncture the most common question Im asked is does it work. Well its been around for over 5000 years. Its transitioned from Asian culture to the west and its recognised and practiced by professional all over the world. That seems to me to be a fairly well established practice. And if its not working for the millions of patients that use it then why its it so popular and why has it lasted the test of time?

What is acupuncture used for?

Acupuncture is used for a whole range of maladies. From skin conditions and medical complaints. infertility and addiction to sports injuries and headaches. The use of acupuncture is specified by the world health organisation and practiced in hospitals too. So as you can see the remit for acupuncture is vast. And with millions of dedicated followers it seems its here to stay and a valid alternative therapy.

How does Acupuncture work.

Research studies have shown that acupuncture stimulates the production of chemicals in the brain. Further studies have shown there are anti inflammatory and pain relieving properties. These are valuable tools in any therapists armoury.

How is acupuncture administered.

Tiny fine sterile needles are inserted in to the skin. The application of the needles is a matter of skill in the practitioner. But most patients say they felt nothing or little or any discomfort. The needles are stimulated periodically through out the session that usually lasts about 30 minutes. Sessions are repeated one or twice weekly.

If you feel that acupuncture is something you’d like to try, then contact me at Wholehealth and have an initial free discussion. If you decide to proceed appointments are offered at a mutually convenient time. There is no special preparation for the sessions and loose fitting clothing usually avoids removing any garments other than out coats and shoes. Call 01383 622583
