Acupuncture has been used as a method of pain control for centuries. The ancient Chinese used it for all manner of pain control methods from childbirth to headaches and everything in between. In recent years Ive increasingly been asked for acupuncture for arthritic pain. Many patients seem to enjoy both the process and the after effects.
Acupuncture has been used as an anti inflammatory and this may explain why its so helpful especially in rheumatoid arthritis. Inflamed joints can of course be very painful. We have all seen or experienced the problems of swollen hot red joints either in our selves or family members. The acupuncture process is often used to help with these horrible symptoms. Whilst acupuncture cant cure these diseases, many sufferers are just of the fact they have alleviated the pain.
The process of acupuncture is very simple and not as many seem to believe painful. The tine sterile needles are inserted in to the soft tissues. The technique used ensures that the process is almost completely pain free. Patients also often speak about the relaxing qualities of acupuncture treatment and whilst I’m not making any claims in this direction, its a commonly heard remark.
Ive been using acupuncture to help patients with all kinds of painful conditions. The list of uses for this ancient therapy seems to have little limits. The pain control and anti inflammatory qualities are a benefit to all kinds of patients. So please don’t think that its just for one condition. If you have a painful condition that doesn’t seem to respond to traditional pain control why not consider this alternative and ancient method. Its now all the rage in many countries where it was initially viewed with scepticism.
